CNN Producer Admits To Hidden Camera The Reality Of Trump-Russia Coverage

President Donald Trump and the media have been at war with one another ever since he won the election. CNN, in particular, has been harshly scrutinizing the president, and has been leading the charge in breaking the Russia-Trump collusion story. The president calls it 'fake news', but CNN employees have indignantly insisted that they're doing the job a free press is supposed to do: objectively reporting the facts. As it turns out, Trump might be right, and CNN might be in trouble.

Non-profit news organization Project Veritas sent undercover reporters in to see what was going on with CNN. According to its website, PV's mission is to "Investigate and expose corruption, dishonesty, self-dealing, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions in order to achieve a more ethical and transparent society."

On PV's website, they report, "Project Veritas is a registered 501(c)3 organization. Project Veritas does not advocate specific resolutions to the issues that are raised through its investigations, nor do we encourage others to do so. Our goal is to inform the public of wrongdoing and allow the public to make judgments on the issues."

PV sent their undercover reporters into CNN to see what was going on in the popular media outlet, and they made some startling revelations. The producer of CNN revealed to a reporter when he was secretly being filmed that there is no evidence that Trump colluded with Russia, and that the CEO insists they run the story because it has helped ratings soar.

John Bonifield, CNN's supervising producer of the network's health unit, told the undercover journalist that the only reason that CNN harps on the Russia story is because ratings are up.

"Even if Russia was trying to swing an election," said Bonifield for the hidden camera, "we try to swing their elections, our CIA is doing sh-t all the time, we're out there trying to manipulate governments. You win because you know the game and you play it right. [Clinton] didn't play it right."

"Then why is CNN constantly, like, Russia this, Russia that?" the reporter asked.

"Because it's ratings," said Bonifield. "Our ratings are incredible right now."

Bonifield goes on to say that hitting the Russia-Trump story hard is an order straight from the top. CEO Jeff Zucker insists that the reports continuously go back to the Russia story. "They got to do what they got to do to make their money," he explained.

In a conversation at another time, while driving in the car, the undercover reporter captures Bonifield explaining that "liberal CNN viewers... want to see Trump really get scrutinized."

"I think if we would have behaved that way with President Obama, and scrutinized everything that he was doing with as much scrutiny as we applied to Donald Trump, I think our viewers would have been turned off."

He also admits that there is no evidence for the Trump-Russia story, which he says is "mostly bullsh-t right now". "Like, we don't have any big giant proof."

Bonifield, in an elevator with the reporter and hidden camera, reveals that the network keeps going after the Trump-Russia story in hopes that it pans out to be true, in hopes that the investigation turns up something. But he expresses doubt that this will happen. "If they were finding something, we would know about it."

"And so I think the president is probably right to say, like, look you are witch-hunting me," Bonifield adds.

Bonifield even went as far as to mock 'cutesy little ethics' that are brought up in journalism school. "That's adorable," he laughs. "This is a business."

"Bonifield says CNN loves the Russia story, not because it's true, but because people want it to be true," says PV. "They're feeding their audience a false narrative in order to get ratings."

On Friday, CNN had to retract a report after making bogus claims about President Trump's ties to Russia with anonymous sources. Three journalists were forced to resign, and CNN put out a mandate a day later to crack down on the way it covers Russia.

These explosive details came out in PV's part one of a three-part video series of their investigation into CNN.
