Clinton Says Email Scandal Will Not Stop Her From Becoming President

Hillary Clinton insisted Wednesday that the controversy concerning her use of a private email server as secretary of state will not be a problem for her in the general-election campaign.

The likely Democratic nominee was asked on Fox News whether there is “zero chance” the issue will doom her White House bid. She replied: “Absolutely. That’s what I’m saying. That happens to be the truth.”

The Hill pointed out that the FBI is trying to determine if any classified government information was leaked due to Clinton’s server. The agency also is investigating her fundraising for the Clinton Foundation.

The candidate predicted that the FBI will not file any charges against her. “That is not going to happen,” she told Fox News’ Bret Baier. “There is no basis for it, and I’m looking forward to this being wrapped up as soon as possible.” Noting that the FBI has interviewed a number of others, Clinton said she is “looking forward to also participating.”

Her appearance on the right-leaning Fox News was unusual, according to The Hill. The network has focused on the email scandal more aggressively than most other national news organizations. Clinton used the private server at her New York home while she headed the State Department during President Obama’s first term.
