Clinton Rape Accuser Has Message For Oprah As 2020 Rumors Gain Steam

Oprah Winfrey stepped up to the podium at the Golden Globe awards, and she proceeded to blow the roof off of the joint. Winfrey’s impassioned speech was a big hit with those in attendance, and scores of users on social media felt the same way.

Thoughts of a potential run for president by Winfrey in 2020 quickly gained a ton of buzz, and there has been an endless amount of debate about her actual viability as a candidate ever since.

So is there anything to see here or was Winfrey just showing off her oratorical skills? It’s tough to say for sure, but her speech hit a ton of high notes that were reminiscent of someone that has political aspirations.

“A new day is on the horizon,” she said at one point.

Prior to the speech, there were plenty of steadfast denials from Winfrey whenever she was speculated about as a potential future presidential candidate. Afterwards, there were plenty of rumors swirling that she was at least thinking about it.

Trump’s ascendance to the highest office in the land certainly means that all bets are off when it comes to the pool of candidates, and Winfrey certainly has the name recognition and financial wherewithal to give it a valid go.

Of course, not everyone is onboard with the idea of another celebrity taking a stab at things. We can include Juanita Broaddrick in that camp, but it has nothing to do with the fact that Winfrey is a famous face.

Broaddrick contends that former President Bill Clinton raped her back in 1978 when he was serving as attorney general in Arkansas. She has a big issue with the fact that her story is brushed aside and paid no mind, especially in the current climate.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, she dropped a pair of tweets as the buzz was swirling around about Winfrey, but she wasn’t in the camp of those that were encouraging her to run.

“Hey @Oprah #Goldenglobes. Funny I've never heard you mention my name," she began.

"CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? Guess not."

"My rapist was/is your friend, Bill Clinton,” finished one post.

“Remember this @Oprah You've had so many opportunities to bring up my allegations, which have never been discredited. Why??” read another post.

In fairness to Winfrey, there’s simply no way she can go through each and every accusation that has ever made the rounds to let the accusers know that she has their backs. That said, Winfrey had a rather large platform at the time that Broaddrick’s story went public, and she didn’t exactly race to throw her support behind her.

So is it fair to hold Winfrey accountable for the alleged misdeeds of a former president that she just so happens to be close with? Of course not, but it is fair to question why she’s been silent about this case while speaking out about others.

Allegations of sexual misconduct are not a partisan issue - or at least they shouldn’t be - and she may very well be posed with some very tough questions if she seriously pursues a presidential run. That being the case, she would be wise to spend some time reflecting on things and find a way to navigate her way through what remains a touchy issue for the Democratic party as a whole.
