Clinton Feels The Need To Get Political In Wake Of Vegas Shooting

Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took a break from alienating people and hawking her book for at least a few minutes yesterday, but it wasn’t to do anything productive. The woman that can’t wrap her head around ‘what happened’ on election night felt the need to blast a partisan talking point to the world. If she squints really hard, perhaps she’ll find another item to add to her lengthy list of reasons why she lost. As the Daily Mail shares, Clinton viewed yesterday as the perfect time to talk about the National Rifle Association.

Clinton was not the only person that felt the need to get political yesterday, but her profile and the fact that she can’t come to terms with the fact that half the country dismissed her make her comments stand out more than the rest. There’s zero reason to be adding a partisan talking point to the mix when a tragedy is unfolding. We saw many folks do that in the wake of the recent powerful and damaging Hurricanes, as their points about climate change and whatnot just had to come out of their heads at that particular point in time.

It was the same story yesterday, but this time the topic was gun control. There’s certainly a time and a place for that discussion, and there may even be a more captive audience in the wake of the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States. However, rushing to get your thoughts out there before anyone has a chance to process what has happened makes you appear as if you’re a clueless elitist that is incredibly out-of-touch with reality. Here’s what Clinton had to say.

“Our grief isn't enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again,” she said. “The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots.'Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.”

Respectfully, Ms. Clinton, we’ll disagree that grief wasn’t enough for yesterday. It was plenty, along with all of the other emotions that grounded folks were going through. Fear, empathy, and compassion spring to mind, and they were much higher on the priority list than your overwhelming need to interject yourself into the conversation. We get it, you’re still around. We caught onto that by about the time you made your thousandth media appearance to promote your vent session disguised as a book. Is it really too much to ask for you to resist the urge to make political points for at least a day?

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was forced to waste time on what Clinton had to say yesterday, and she handled it as best as she could.

“It's very easy for Mrs. Clinton to criticize and to come out, but I think we need to remember the only person with blood on their hands is that of the shooter,” she responded to one question. “This isn't the time to go after individuals or organizations.”

Throughout the briefing, a visibly shaken Huckabee Sanders demonstrated that grief was more than enough for one day. Perhaps if Clinton understood that, she wouldn’t be out telling anyone that’ll listen about ‘what happened.’
