Clinton Claims Benghazi Victim’s Mom Is ‘Absolutely Wrong’

Hillary Clinton denied Wednesday night that she lied about Benghazi, after a moderator of the Democratic presidential debate challenged her, Breitbart News reported.

Attacks on U.S. diplomatic and CIA facilities in the Libyan city on Sept. 11, 2012, which claimed four American lives, occurred while Clinton was secretary of state. Debate monitor Jorge Ramos of Univision asked: “On the night of the attacks in Benghazi, you sent an email to your daughter, Chelsea, saying that al Qaeda was responsible for the killing of the Americans. However, some of the families claim you lied to them. ... Secretary Clinton, did you lie to them?”

Ramos was referring to Clinton having reportedly told some of the victims’ relatives that an anti-Islam video inspired the fatal assaults. A clip shown at the debate featured Patricia Smith, whose son was killed. “They knew it was not the video,” she said. Breitbart News pointed out that Clinton’s message to her daughter described the incident as a “planned attack” by an “al Qaeda-like group.”

Clinton told Ramos: “I feel a great deal of sympathy for the families of the four brave Americans that we lost at Benghazi, and I certainly can’t even imagine the grief that (Smith) has for losing her son. But she’s wrong. She’s absolutely wrong. I and everybody in the administration, all the people she named, the president, the vice president, Susan Rice, we were scrambling to get information that was changing literally by the hour. And when we had information, we made it public, but then sometimes we had to go back and say we have new information that contradicts it.”
