Cher Hurls Sexist Insult At Trump's Spokeswoman

One of the country’s most iconic entertainers is under fire for calling the White House press secretary a “bitch.”

The Washington Free Beacon reported that on Monday, singer and actress Cher tweeted: “Would someone please tell Sarah Huckabee Sanders to stop dressing like a sister wife?” She was referring to women who have the same husband in polygamous societies.

The remark clearly did not sit well with another Twitter user, Stefanie Mullins, who wrote: “Funny how you change your perspective on feminism to suit your own agenda when it’s convenient."

She continued, "Come up with an argument, say something smart about why you disagree with Sarah Huckabee! Come on I know you can do it if you try!”

Cher fired back: “SHE’S RUDE AND SHE LIES!! THERE’S NO SPECIAL DISPENSATION FOR A WOMAN WHO’S A BITCH!”

The previous day, the Grammy Award winner was among those who spoke at a Women’s March at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. She slammed President Trump and called on women to get more involved in politics.

“What I’m going to tell you, you know, is it’s time to step up to the plate and deserve it and to own it,” the veteran pop star said. “If you don’t take it, no one is going to give it to you."

"This is one of the worst times in our history, and that’s why I honestly believe that women are going to be the ones who fix it. And that’s no bullshit."

She concluded, "If you want a job done right, get a woman.”

Cher noted that a number of powerful men in her industry have recently been accused of sexual harassment and assault. Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, actor Kevin Spacey, former news anchors Bill O’Reilly and Matt Lauer, and several members of Congress are among them.

However, the singer acknowledged that not all men behave inappropriately toward women. “These are the guys who are raised by women like me,” she said.

Earlier this month, Cher blasted Trump’s boast on Twitter that he had a “bigger button” than North Korean leader Kim Jong-un with which to launch nuclear missiles. She called the president a “nut job” who “may get us into a war,” according to The Hill.

The Free Beacon noted that Cher is not the only anti-Trump critic who has made comments about Huckabee Sanders that many people considered sexist. Last year, Los Angeles Times columnist David Horsey apologized for alleging that the spokeswoman “looks more like a slightly chunky soccer mom who organizes snacks for the kids’ games.”

The Pulitzer Prize winner wrote that Huckabee Sanders “is the right mouthpiece for a truth-twisting president,” adding that she “does not look like the kind of woman Donald Trump would choose as his chief spokesperson” because she differs from the “sleek beauties with long legs and stiletto heels who represent his interests and act as his arm candy.”

Horsey continued: “Rather than the fake eyelashes and formal dresses she puts on for news briefings, Sanders seems as if she’d be more comfortable in sweats and running shoes.”

The column featured a cartoon by Horsey depicting a caricature of the press secretary as “Big Mother” spouting lines from the dystopian novel and movie “1984.” The writer admitted that his piece was “insensitive.”
