Carson Super PAC Slams Refugee Plan in New Ad

The super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is running an advertisement blasting President Obama for wanting to let Syrian refugees move to the United States.

The commercial is appearing on television and online in the early caucus and primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, according to The Hill. The ad is titled “Courage.”

Carson provides the audio for the spot, declaring: “When the president says things like, you know, through an executive order, ‘I'm going to bring 100,000 people in here from Syria,’ Congress needs to say ‘you do that and we’re going to defund everything, including your breakfast.”

The administration has actually called for allowing 10,000 refugees into the country, on a gradual basis throughout 2016. The proposal has met with criticism not only by Republican presidential contenders but also more than 30 governors.

John Philip Sousa IV, who chairs the super PAC (called The 2016 Committee), explained that the commercial was altered at the last minute to reflect the terrorist attacks in Paris. Many Republicans are insisting that the importation of Syrians be delayed until a thorough screening process is in place.

In the ad, which Sousa called “our first step of putting our big toe in the water,” Carson also addresses drug addiction, the national debt, and political correctness, according to The Hill.
