Carson Slams Ryan For Not Supporting Trump
Dr. Ben Carson might have dropped out of the race as a candidate, but he's not dropping out of politics. The former Republican hopeful is urging others in his party to throw their support against Trump.
Carson appeared on MSNBC on 'Morning Joe' last Friday and spoke in particular about Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. “I hope Speaker Ryan and many others begin to understand that and realize that we have to work together,” said Carson. “You don’t have another choice.” he added.
Many Republicans who liked neither Senator Ted Cruz nor Trump once held onto the hope that the election would be contested, possibly brokered, but as it stands now it's unlikely. Cruz and John Kasich have both suspended their campaigns, practically paving Donald Trump's way to the Republican nomination.
"You get behind the choice that you have, whether you like them or not, if in fact you’re a believer,” Carson reminded those Republicans who have sworn not to vote for Trump.
Carson did point out Trump has some hope of gaining more favor by picking an approved running mate. “It kind of makes sense that if you’re a political outsider that you would want to have someone in your administration who was very familiar with the inner workings of the party,” said Carson. “You clearly need to know how things operate there."
But Carson essentially reminds people that it's a time to suck it up and vote for the lesser of two evils. “If there was a Democrat who strongly upheld the Constitution, believed in personal responsibility, a hand up rather than a hand-out, fiscal responsibility and a strong military, we’d be willing to talk to them. If you know of any such Democrats, let me know," the doctor concluded.
