Carson Predicts ‘Escalation’ of Violence at Trump Rallies

Violent clashes at Donald Trump’s campaign events could get worse, Ben Carson warned on NBC’s “Today” show.

According to the Daily Mail, the retired pediatric brain surgeon told program host Matt Lauer: “'I think certainly if the protesters continue with their Alinsklyite tactics, there is a real possibility of escalation.” He was referring to Saul Alinsky, author of the community-organizing book “Rules for Radicals.”

Carson, who recently dropped out of the Republican presidential race and endorsed Trump, remarked that the real-estate mogul’s supporters “can submit ... and meekly just do whatever those protesters want them to do, or they could decide to fight back.” He noted that “if they decide to fight back, there could be an escalation.”

Trump often encourages his fans to rough up people who disrupt his speeches. At one event, he told the crowd that he wished he could “punch (a protester) in the face.” A white man attending a recent rally apparently felt the same way when he struck a black demonstrator.

Trump claimed his supporters are “not the bad guys,” but merely fending off “mean” people. “(The protesters) are so bad, our people started swinging back, and the next day we are the bad guys,” he told a crowd in Illinois, according to Fox News.
