Carson Claims to Have the Experience Needed to Fight ISIS

Though he has no background in foreign policy, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson maintained on Sunday that he has the expertise to fight terrorism, The Hill reported.

“You have to look at a person’s lifetime experiences,” the retired brain surgeon told Fox News. “Of all the people running, I’ve probably had the most experience making critical life and death decisions; probably far more 2 a.m. calls than anyone else. It’s not necessarily the one that shouts the loudest. There’s nobody running that has a great deal of international experience except for Hillary Clinton, and you see where that has led.”

Carson declared that the United States must not “kowtow to” ISIS. “This is America, and we need to have a definitive and powerful strategy to defeat them,” he said. “There is no magic bullet. It’s going to have to be a conglomerate of things we’re going to have to do.”

The candidate encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity they witness, even at the risk of being criticized for doing so. “We have to stop demonizing people who are trying to be good citizens,” he said.

Carson, who once challenged Donald Trump’s lead in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, has been slipping in the polls. One recent national survey of Republican voters showed him in fourth place behind Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
