Carly Fiorina Launches 2016 Presidential Bid

On Monday, Carly Fiorina announced that she will seek the Republican nomination for 2016. On ABC's "Good Morning America" she said, “Yes, I am running for president. I think I’m the best person for the job because I understand how the economy actually works. I understand the world, who’s in it, how the world works. I understand bureaucracies, and that’s what our federal government has become — a giant, bloated, unaccountable, corrupt bureaucracy,” she said. “I understand technology, which is a tool both to re-imagine government to re-engage citizens in the process of government, and I understand executive decision-making, which is making a tough call in a tough time with high stakes for which you’re prepared to be accountable.”

As a former Hewlett-Packard executive, she says she does not believe that political experience is necessary. She said of people she spoke with across the country, “They’re kind of tired of the political class, and they believe that we need to return to a citizen government.” Fiorina also took a jab at Hillary Clinton, saying, “She is the personification of the professional political class.”

Fiorina also discussed campaign funds and said “We won’t raise the most money of anyone in the field for sure, but we’ll raise sufficient money.” When asked what she would do first if elected, she said she would call the prime minister of Israel, "because how we treat our friends is reassuring to our other friends, and because I think this administration has made the world a more dangerous place.”
