Caitlyn Jenner Is Reportedly Considering Her Entrance Into Politics - May Run For Senate

President Donald Trump’s successful entry into the world of politics makes it seem as if the barriers to entry for political novices are a thing of the past. In the wake of Trump’s surprising victory over Hillary Clinton, all sorts of famous names have been bandied about as potential candidates of the future. We can add another name to the list, albeit for a Senate seat in the state of California.

As the Daily Mail shares, Caitlyn Jenner is mulling a bid in her home state, and there may be more to see here than just a star looking for attention.

“Over the next six months or so, I gotta find out where I can do a better job,” she said during a recent radio interview. “Can I do a better job from the outside? Kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talking to anybody? Or are you better from the inside, and we are in the process of determining that.”

Jenner is a registered Republican, and she’s at least considering throwing her hat into the ring.

“I've considered it. I like the political side of it,” she added.

By doing so, she would add a whole new wrinkle to the ongoing discussion of LGBT rights.

“The perception of the Republican Party is that they are all about rich white guys trying to make money. I would hope in the next generation… that we can change the perception of the Republican Party and make it the party of equality,” Jenner says.

That being said, she has made it clear that she’s not afraid to call out either side if the situation calls for it.

“My loyalties are not with the Republican Party. My loyalties are not with Donald Trump. I'll come after him and come after Republicans when they start screwing up my community,” Jenner has previously said. “And I got a voice and they'd better listen, because I will come after them. And so, over the next year or two, I would look at where I can be more effective to helping my community.”

Sounds like Jenner has some serious thinking to do about what she wants to do with the next phase of her life. It appears that life on the reality show circuit isn’t cutting it anymore, and her days on ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ are in the rearview mirror.

“If that is the case ... I would seriously look at a run. It just depends where I could be more effective,” Jenner said.

Being effective on LGBT issues is one thing, but having a platform that benefits the state of California as a whole is another matter entirely. There has to be some substance to what you have to say, as name recognition will only get you so far. That’s not to suggest that Jenner doesn’t bring anything else to the table, but it does point to a need for her to outline her positions on other issues so that voters can make an informed decision if she throws her hat into the ring.
