Bush Slams Trump For His ‘Insulting’ Rhetoric

Jeb Bush told Donald Trump during Tuesday night’s Republican presidential debate: “You’re not going to be able to insult your way to the presidency.”

The former Florida governor was referring to Trump’s frequent attacks on various groups, including women, Latinos, Muslims and the disabled. The real-estate developer has proposed banning all Muslims from immigrating to the United States and deploying U.S. troops to kill the families of suspected terrorists.

“This is another example of the lack of seriousness. … the idea that that is a solution to this is just is just crazy. It makes no sense to suggest this,” Bush said. CNN, which sponsored the debate, showed Trump dismissing the comment with a wave of his hand.

Bush continued: “Look, two months ago Donald Trump said that ISIS was not our fight. ... He said that Hillary Clinton would be a great negotiator with Iran. And he gets his foreign-policy experience from ‘the shows.’ That is not a serious kind of candidate.”

According to The Hill, Trump countered that he, unlike Bush, would provide “toughness” as the nation’s commander in chief. The former governor shot back: “I do have the strength. Leadership is not about attacking people and discouraging people. Leadership is about creating a serious strategy to deal with the threat of our time.”
