Boehner: Cruz Is Lucifer

Former House Speaker John Boehner quietly stepped out of the limelight when he tearfully resigned as Speaker of the House--but, even he is not immune to the antics being played in the 2016 presidential race. During a speech he delivered at Stanford on Wednesday night, Boehner called Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, "Lucifer in the flesh."

Boehner went on to explain, "I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life." Yet, this isn't the first time Boehner compared Cruz to "Lucifer." He even made the comparison last month during a question-and-answer session with reporters at the Futures Industry Association conference in Boca Raton, Florida.

When it comes to Republican presidential front-runner, Donald Trump--Boehner has stated that he had golfed with Trump for years and that the pair are "texting buddies." Cruz got wind of the statements and during a stop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he told reporters "If you want someone that's a texting and golfing buddy, if you're happy with John Boehner as speaker of the House and you want a president like John Boehner, Donald Trump's your man." Cruz went on to share that he never "worked with" Boehner and, with regard to being called Lucifer, Cruz argued that Boehner "allowed his inner Trump to come out."

Current Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, was asked about Boehner's remarks. Ryan replied, "I have a much better relationship with Senator Cruz. I have a very good relationship with both of these men. I'm going to keep it that way." When it comes to fellow Ohioan John Kasich, Boehner said that the governor "requires more effort on my behalf than all my other friends...but he's still my friend, and I love him."

On the Democratic side, Boehner noted that Hillary Clinton will win he party's nomination, but that Bernie Sanders is a likable guy and the most honest politician in the race. With regard to the ongoing FBI investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server, while she was at the State Department, Boehner stated, "Don't be shocked...if two weeks before the convention, here comes Joe Biden parachuting in and Barack Obama fanning the flames to make it all happen." In addition, Boehner added a few jokes about his name saying, "You can call me boner, beaner, jackass, happy to answer to almost anything."
