Biden Launches PAC - Creates Speculation About His Status In Next Presidential Election

The whispers never seem to go away about former Vice President Joe Biden, and he doesn’t exactly try to quiet them down either. Generally, the whispers take the form of "what might have been" in terms of the 2016 presidential election, or "what might be" if Biden throws his hat into the ring in 2020. Based on his latest actions, there’s a possibility we could find out - at least about the latter one.

As the Daily Mail shares, Biden has started his own political action committee, American Possibilities, and he has blasted out an email to supporters to announce the launch.

“The history of this nation is one of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. And that's who we still are,” the email read in part. “That's why the negativity, the pettiness, the small-mindedness of our politics drives me crazy. It's not who we are.”

While the PAC could simply be to raise funds for other races and to help advance Democratic efforts in general, some observers are taking it as a clear sign that Biden’s putting some feelers out to see how much of a war chest he can build. Political campaigns cost a boatload of cash, and that’s magnified tenfold when it comes to the highest office in the land.

Biden would be 77 when the next election comes around, but he’s an incredibly likable candidate and has a genuine knack for bringing people together. Whether that would translate to a successful presidential bid or not is unclear, but his wife notes that he’ll be staying around the world of politics for the foreseeable future.

“Joe is not going away and you know that, all of you. He loves politics, he loves what he's doing, and he said he would stay involved,” Jill Biden said during an interview on "CBS This Morning." “So he set up this PAC because he's going to be involved in the midterm elections.”

Biden has repeatedly denied that he’ll seek the nomination next time around, but he also does it in a way that leaves the door open just a crack. That’s an interesting change from how 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is handling things right now, as she seems determined to incinerate any chance she had of being considered for 2020.

“The Russians in my opinion - and based on intelligence and counterintelligence people I have spoken to - could not have known best how to weaponize that information unless they had been guided by a specific group of people. By Americans,” Clinton said, during one of many recent appearances.

Clinton has been blaming anyone and everyone for the fact that she came up short last time around, but she still shows no inclination that she has even an ounce of personal accountability. Perhaps lamenting about her plight is somewhat therapeutic after such a crushing defeat, but it’s coming across in horrible fashion. It’s gotten to the point that she’s alleging voters simply didn’t know what they were doing.

“Some people were sucked in. Some people stayed home. Some people voted Trump,” she said.
