Biden Forecasts Victory For Clinton in November

Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the White House will succeed, according to Joe Biden.

“I feel confident that Hillary will be the nominee, and I feel confident that she’ll be the next president,” the vice president predicted Tuesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The Hill noted that Biden has not formally endorsed Clinton or Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. He has not even revealed which candidate received his vote in last month’s Democratic primary in his home state of Delaware.

The vice president has lauded both contenders, citing Clinton’s experience and Sanders’ progressive ideas.

“I like the idea of saying, ‘We can do much more,’ because we can,” he told The New York Times in April. “I don’t think any Democrat has ever won saying, ‘We can’t think that big — we ought to really downsize here because it’s not realistic. Come on man, this is the Democratic Party. I’m not part of the party that says, ‘Well, we can’t do it.’” The comment apparently was a reference to Clinton’s argument that Sanders’ proposals are too ambitious.

Clinton is on the verge of clinching the nomination. She leads her rival in pledged delegates, 1,705 to 1,415. When superdelegates are added to the totals, her lead is 2,228 to 1,454. However, superdelegates are free to change their minds at the Democratic national convention. Sanders is urging them to support him, in part because polls show him doing better than Clinton in a general-election matchup against presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.
