Ben Carson Wants To Implement Biblical Flat Tax

GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson recently proposed a flat-tax plan on Sunday of 10 percent. He argues it is based on the biblical practice of tithing and said “You make $10bn a year, you pay a billion; you make $10 a year, you pay one. That’s pretty damn fair if you ask me."

The retired neurosurgeon who launched his presidential bid last week called himself a non-politician and problem solver--trying to set himself apart within the Republican field. While his win may be a long shot, the proportional tax proposal may sit well with conservative evangelical Christians who tithe, as well as Americans frustrated with the highly complicated tax system. Carson also said, “I like the idea of a proportional tax – that way you pay according to your ability. I got that idea quite frankly from the Bible.” He also stated “Poor people have pride, too, and they don’t want to be just taken care of." He hopes his plan will eliminate any US tax system loopholes, making it more difficult for politicians to raise taxes.
