Ben Carson: Country And Culture Disintegrating In America

Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson thinks Americans need to stand up for their religious freedom because “God is in charge,” according to Opposing Views.

“There is a concerted effort to give away all of our beliefs and values all for the sake of political correctness,” the candidate said last weekend at a forum organized by the conservative Iowa Faith & Freedom organization.

The Gazette reported that the retired surgeon told the 100 people who attended the event: “As long as you sit down, be quiet, you can believe anything you want, but once you challenge them, they want your head.”

Carson continues to rank in the top tier of GOP candidates in Iowa, though he is not doing as well nationally. Some Republicans apparently appreciate that he is a political outsider, never having held public office. According to The Gazette, the woman who introduced the candidate at the Iowa event declared: “From a millennial point of view, the fact you’re not a politician is inspirational.”

Carson could remain in the race for a long time, as his campaign already has raised $8.5 million, CNN reported. Two-thirds of the money has come from donors giving small amounts.

According to the Daily Signal, Carson said at another recent gathering of Republicans in Iowa: “I see our country and culture disintegrating. We’re in the process of giving away all the values that made America into a great nation.”
