Ben Carson Believes The U.S. Must Continue To Protect Israel
Dr. Ben Carson has received quite a bit of criticism stating he lacks knowledge regarding foreign policy. Yet, the potential 2016 presidential candidate stated that he is actively working to learn as much as he can in that area.
In a recent statement, he acknowledged the fact that he is getting updated on various foreign policy topics. While he has visited over 57 countries, he shared that he is still digesting the overall dynamic of global politics.
Carson also stated that he has a unique alternative to offer in regard to the one or two-state solution for Palestine. Carson said, “I don’t have any problem with the Palestinians having a state, but does it need to be within the confines of Israeli territory? Is that necessary, or can you sort of slip that area down into Egypt? Right below Israel, they have some amount of territory, and it can be adjacent. They can benefit from the many agricultural advances that were made by Israel, because if you fly over that area, you can easily see the demarcation between Egypt and Israel, in terms of one being desert and one being verdant. Technology could transform that area. So why does it need to be in an area where there’s going to be temptation for Hamas to continue firing missiles at relatively close range to Israel?"
Although, it is still unclear how realistic this proposal may be when it comes to the Palestinians, it is clear that Carson is ready to offer solutions. Some may argue that the suggestion that leaves Israel completely intact is not precisely what the ultimate goal is.
