Bannon On Trump’s Goals: Deconstruction Of The Administrative State

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference for a rare interview. Bannon largely remains behind the scenes in the Trump administration, but he proved that perhaps he should take center stage more often. The Trump advisor broke down the president's agenda in three basic parts.

According to Bannon, President Trump's main goal is threefold: economic nationalism, national sovereignty and deconstruction of the administrative state.

Bannon expounded on each point. Economic nationalism involves the president's plan to restore America's prominence in trade and commerce. He mentioned the president's financial cabinet members and explained that they're 'rethinking how we're going to reconstruct the trade arrangements around the world.'

"...[T] will reposition America in the world as a fair-trading nation," Bannon explains, noting that it will bring jobs back to the states.

To restore American sovereignty, the president hopes to improve and strengthen intelligence, the defense department and homeland security. This initiative includes cracking down on illegal immigration and will work on strengthening immigration overall.

Finally, Bannon explains the 'deconstruction' involves the tax code, as well as a reaction to the overreach of the left that has stifled businesses and stifled economic growth. "The way the progressive left runs is if they can't get it past, they're just going to put it in some sort of regulation in an agency," he explains. "That's all going to be deconstructed and I think that's why this regulatory thing is so important."

According to Bannon, the president is already on it with Congress. The CPAC audience was thrilled with the plan.
