Recent News Trends Leave Some Wondering If Trump's Marriage Might Be In Trouble

More questions about President Trump’s relationship with his wife arose during the couple’s trip to the Middle East and the Vatican, with some observers noting that the president and first lady never held hands in public.

According to Elite Daily, there is growing suspicion that the marriage is going through a tough period, largely due to Melania Trump’s reluctance to take on the responsibilities of a president’s spouse. She declined to move into the White House when her husband took office in January, deciding to remain at Trump Tower in New York City with the couple’s son, Barron, until the end of the school year. The boy plans to attend classes at a private school in the Washington, D.C., area this fall.

Friends and White House staffers interviewed by Politico claimed the first couple have a close bond. One of the sources said Melania Trump is an “avid viewer of cable news” who keeps tabs on how the media treat her husband. She reportedly tells him about it when she sees critical news coverage. Government employees who leak information damaging to Trump particularly annoy the first lady, according to the sources.

Politico learned that Melania Trump is not impressed with the White House communications team, which has struggled to protect the president from charges ranging from incompetence and inexperience to collusion with Russia in last year’s election. An “outside adviser” who purportedly “speaks to the president regularly” was referring to White House press secretary Sean Spicer when he told the news site that the first lady “was really concerned that Spicer was not doing a good job; that they were not proactive in defending the president.”

Before her husband’s first foreign trip since taking office, the first lady made few joint appearances with him. She was seen most often at Mar-a-Lago, the Trump-owned resort in Florida that the administration calls “the winter White House.” However, Melania Trump may be more engaged in issues than most people think. She is among “several people (the president) calls at night to hear how the dysfunction in his White House is playing out beyond the Beltway,” one of the unidentified sources said.

When the first couple emerged from their plane in Israel on Monday, they walked side by side but there was no touching. Some said it appeared that the first lady slapped away her husband's hand when he reached out to her. Politico reported: “Perhaps Trump thought it was a bad moment to hold hands, or perhaps there’s something more there. It also could’ve just been nothing — a simple twitch of the hand.”
