Rand Paul Promises The Biggest Tax Cut In American History

Rand Paul raised the expectations of conservatives in a speech delivered to CPAC attendees, promising he would soon reveal a new, impressive economic proposal. During his speech, he stated that in the upcoming weeks, he would propose the biggest tax cut seen in all of American history. He is creating the proposal that will cut each person’s taxes – from the poorest to the richest.

He further raised expectations when he made the claim that the proposal will also cut the spending and help to balance the nation’s budget in a period of only five years. If Paul is able to deliver on this promise, then it may help to distinguish him from the extremely crowded field of Republican Presidential hopefuls for 2016. It would distinguish him from top candidates like poll leader Governor Scott Walker and former Governor Jeb Bush from Florida who has a campaign budget of over $100 million.

This outsider theme was the focus for the remainder of his speech. According to Rand, fixing Washington will require changing the business as usual environment. He also stated that he is proposing something that is really outrageous – congress taking the time to read every single bill. While this line generated a significant amount of applause from the audience, he did not bother to elaborate on the details of this proposal. Paul continued to state that he is in support of a constitutional amendment that would limit the total number of terms that a member of congress is allowed to serve.
