Pregnant Woman Takes Extreme Measures To Make Sure Husband Can Meet Baby

Life can be awfully bittersweet at times. Diane Aulger was excitedly awaiting the birth of her daughter, all while her husband was struggling to stay alive. That led her to come to the conclusion that there was no way her husband was leaving the world before he got to see his daughter too. As So Share This explains, Diane informed her doctor that she wanted to be induced into labor.

Diane was tickled pink when she found out she was pregnant. Her husband had just gone through a major health care, but he had finally turned the corner. Mark Aulger had been locked in battle with stage 3 colon cancer, but he won the battle and the happy couple was ready to move on to better times. The pregnancy was just the news they needed, but then things took a turn for the worse.

While Mark had won the cancer fight, he was still feeling sick. That led doctors to discover that he had pulmonary fibrosis. That disease can be deadly, as it stops the flow of oxygen to the brain and other organs. Mark’s case turned out to be of the extreme kind, and it didn’t look like he had much time left.

Diane was far enough along in her pregnancy at this point, so she made a decision to make the best of the little time they had left together as a couple. She decided to be induced into labor so that Mark could at least hold his daughter once. The hospital completely understood the situation, and they rigged it so that the couple’s hospital beds could be side by side. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and Mark would get to hold her.

A few days later, Mark was getting progressively worse. Diane knew he was about at the end, so she placed her daughter in his arms a final time. Mark would let go for good just moments later.
