Lindsay Lohan Is Studying Islam In Thailand, Now She's Been Spotted Wearing This

Lindsey Lohan, a famed American actress, and worldwide music sensation, made waves across the internet when images surfaced showing her in Phuket, Thailand, wearing a burkini while practicing her paddleboarding skills. The burkini was initially designed by an Australian swimsuit maker, Aheda Zanetti, and gives females swimmers and surfers a more modest swimsuit, consisting of a pair of swimsuit pants and a loose, long sleeved upper body covering.

The swimsuit is also regularly paired with a waterproof head covering or swimming cap. The burkini was designed to accommodate Islamic women who often feel uncomfortable at beaches and pools as there is not a range of swimming apparel catered to their standards of appropriate dress.

For Ms. Lohan, her burkini appeared to be a black and red ensemble piece that included a black head covering that left her face uncovered. Prior to arriving in Thailand, Ms. Lohan had visited family in the Islamic nation of Dubai. Recently, Ms. Lohan received a veritable storm of publicity after she hinted that she had taken up Islam as her religion.

While it remains unclear if she is a practicing Muslim, Ms. Lohan has revealed that she is studying the Koran and has found a great deal of solace, comfort, and quietude from the faith, saying: “Studying the Koran is something I found solace in, a religion where I found a lot of peace. I have reached inside and I found what I want my intentions to be in the world... focusing on taking control of what I want out of life. You can't just convert to a religion overnight - it's a culture and practice [and] I don't want to comment on something I haven't finished.”

Interestingly, many people have pointed out that the dominant religion in Thailand is Buddhism and Ms. Lohan’s conservative attire is likely a personal choice. International views towards the burkini have been highly polarizing with many people across the world applauding the inclusive item of swimwear and emphasizing that it is also a great way of covering oneself from the sun.

However, there remains a high degree of opposition to the garment with several pools and beaches in France temporarily banning the garment after it was deemed offensive and ideologically provocative.
