Barack Obama Almost Married Another Woman, But Politics Got In The Way

A new, lengthy biography about former President Barack Obama reveals that Michelle was not his first lady. The former community organizer was in a serious relationship with another woman in his mid-20s, and that relationship continued even as he was dating his future wife.

'Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama' is the most comprehensive work yet on the former president. According to Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer David J. Garrow, a young Barack almost married another woman.

Garrow reveals that Mr. Obama was dating Sheila Miyoshi Jager, a woman of Dutch and Japanese heritage who now is a professor at Oberlin College. Jager, who was 23 at the time, says she lived with Obama for a couple of years and he proposed, but her family didn't want her to get married so young.

The relationship continued when Obama went to Harvard Law School, but even then, the community organizer had his sights set on a career in politics. He continued dating Jager, even though he reconsidered marrying her. He was advised that marrying a non-African American woman could hurt his chances running for office.

Garrow explains that Obama ‘he felt trapped between the woman he loved and the destiny he knew was his’.

Obama met and began dating Michelle Robinson at Harvard, but continued to date Jager. After 'cheating' on Michelle with Jager, he eventually broke ties with Jager and proposed to Michelle.

In addition to his relationship with Jager, Garrow reveals that Obama had a hot and heavy love affair with an Australian woman, was a regular cocaine user into his 20s, and considered a homosexual relationship with a gay professor.

The book is coming out May 9, and reveals much of Obama's life that was scrubbed out of his own memoir, "Dreams of My Father". In Barack’s book, he combined all his white ex-girlfriends into one character and didn’t go into detail about his relationships prior to Michelle.
