3 Years After Son's Death, Mom in Tears When Girl Says Press 'Play' on Teddy Bear

Though Heather Clark had just lost her 7-month-old, who died under a babysitter’s care, she knew she wanted to prevent another parent from having to go through with the same loss.

According to Little Things, she made the quick unselfish decision to donate her son Lukas’ organs. They would be given to a 4-year-old girl named Jordan who lived in a hospital for years because of her congenital heart defect. Doctors said that Jordan’s only hope of survival would be to get a transplant.

After the donation, Clark got to meet Jordan and her family for the first time. Not only that, but she got to hear her son’s heart beating in Jordan’s chest.

“I get to hear his heartbeat again,” Clark said. “That’s all I can really think about.”

Jordan’s mother hugged Clark tight and said “thank you” over and over during their encounter. The video catches the entire emotional moment where Clark puts a stethoscope to Jordan’s beating heart. Jordan also gave Clark a Build-a-Bear with a recording of Lukas’ beating heart.

“It’s so strong” she said of the heartbeat.

About 21 people die each day because they don’t have organs donated to them in time, Little Things reports. Clark’s decision also saved two other lives, in addition to Jordan’s.
