Texas Mother Tests Positive For Drugs After Putting Daughter In Hot Oven

Tasha Hatcher, 35, is a Texas mother who admitted to putting her two-year-old daughter in a hot oven. In addition, she was using methamphetamine before the unbelievable incident. She was arrested after she showed up fully nude at a neighbor's house with her daughter who had fresh burn marks.

Hatcher's daughter had second and third-degree burns on 14 percent of her body and remained hospitalized on Monday. When police arrived, Hatcher started "singing to God" before making sexual comments to a deputy then telling him she shot a cat. Hatcher told the deputy she put the cat in the oven before she also put her daughter in there.

Hatcher was first taken to an emergency room before she was placed in jail. Police say she mentioned K-2, a synthetic drug, while talking to herself and acting sexually. She did not test positive for K-2, but she did test positive for marijuana, alcohol and methamphetamine. Moreover, police state that Hatcher did not ask about her daughter or what happened to her.

When a Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) asked Hatcher if she remembered putting her daughter in the oven, she said, "Curiosity killed the cat." She then said, "Ask me questions and I will lie to you."

Hatcher has been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury--a first-degree felony. She is being held on $300,000 bond.

In 2005, Hatcher was investigated by Child Protective Services when a friend reported that she let her son leave the house without parental supervision. In 2006, when Hatcher was working as a dancer, she left her son at a 24-hour day care center for more than 31 hours. She had also picked him up while intoxicated. In 2008, Hatcher was arrested and convicted for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.

Her Facebook page states that she works at Quality Inn and Suites and StoneWater Church in Glen Rose.
