Security Guard's Fridge Shows to Be Full Of Employer’s Goods (Photo)

What would you do if you were a business owner and you caught someone stealing your merchandise? That's your livelihood that you have worked very hard for.

According to the FBI, "Police made an estimated 11,205,833 arrests during 2014—498,666 for violent crimes, and 1,553,980 for property crimes. More than 73 percent of those arrested during 2014 were male."

One man in China got caught stealing something peculiar from his place of work. It is a reality that people usually skim off the top when working for someone else. Maybe you take some stationary you are supposed to. Maybe you make yourself a free coffee when you should have paid something. Perhaps you just use double coupons when you are not allowed. A 43-year-old man in China, Gu, was stealing a large amount of eggs from his workplace.

Gu was hired as a security guard to stand outside the hen house. He was supposed to make sure no one entered or exited unless they were supposed to be there. But Gu's bosses became very suspicious when large numbers of eggs were disappearing. They kept their eyes peeled and finally found out that Gu was the one stealing the eggs. When they found his stash they were astonished to see dozens of dozens of eggs.

According to the US Retail Fraud Survey, "American retailers generally put losses owing to staff ahead of losses owing to external shrink. This is the opposite of the situation in the UK,” commented Paul Bessant of Retail Knowledge. “As economic conditions continue to be tough for retailers and consumers alike, it is perhaps not surprising that employee theft is such a big problem," Bessant further states."

The study takes a sample size of 9 retailers whose sales almost add up to one billion dollars. It gives a good insight to how theft affects all sizes of companies. And unfortunately, in some cases, it starts as early on in the production process as in the hen house.
