Palin Family Chaos: Track Palin Has Standoff With Police After Assaulting His Own Father

The holiday season is here, and people the world over are doing their best to make sure things go off without a hitch. Unfortunately, that wish will go unheeded for far too many folks, and unnecessary family drama is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to killing the festive vibe. In some cases, that drama comes well before the eggnog starts flowing at holiday gatherings. As the Daily Mail shares, Sarah Palin and her family are dealing with the aftermath of a frightening situation that could’ve turned out even worse.

Palin’s son, 28-year-old Track Palin, was arrested over the weekend for assaulting his own father. It gets worse. After his mother and father fled the home and called the cops, Track would engage in a standoff with responding officers. The cops were able to talk him off the ledge - so to speak - and he was taken into custody at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Alaska. Palin family lawyer John Tiemessen offered up some remarks on behalf of the family.

“Given the nature of actions addressed last night by law enforcement and the charges involved, the Palins are unable to comment further,” he said. “They ask that the family’s privacy is respected during this challenging situation just as others dealing with a struggling family member would also request.”

Reports indicate that Track arrived at the family’s home despite it being made clear that he wasn’t welcome. His father tried to prevent him from entering by pointing a gun at him, but Track busted through a window and proceeded to beat the daylights out of him. His parents took off and called the cops, and they were soon en route. Officer Adam LaPointe of the Wasilla Police Department provided some more clarity on the situation in his incident report.

“Track stood on the porch. Communication was attempted which failed due to Track yelling and calling myself and other officers peasants and telling us to lay our guns on the ground before approaching the residence. Track said he had been talking to his dad, Todd, about a vehicle,” he wrote.

Things obviously went awry from that point, and LaPointe offered up some more insight in his sworn affidavit.

“Track stated he had a disagreement and that there had been threats made between them. Track stated that he then drove over to Todd's house and when he arrived Todd had a gun in his hand,” the affidavit reads. “Track stated that he went through the broken window and disarmed Todd and put him on the ground. While Track had Todd on the ground he started hitting Todd in the head. Todd was able to get away from Track and out of the residence.”

This is not the first run-in with the law for Track, an Iraqi war veteran. Back in 2016, he was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving a girlfriend. For both incidents, it’s reported that he was drunk out of his mind, and the former Alaska governor herself indicated that he was hopped up on pills when she called the cops. Palin has made reference to her son's struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder during several speaking engagements. While it’s always dangerous to judge from afar, it’s quite clear that the young man has some troubles. We sincerely hope that he gets the help that he needs and that he will ultimately be able to reconcile with his family.
