Father Receives No Jail Time After Molesting Cancer-Stricken Daughter

Jeremy Schwer, 41, has pleaded guilty to molesting his cancer-stricken daughter. Yet, he won't spend any time in prison. Schwer began abusing his daughter when he and his now-estranged wife, Arpana Schwer, started taking turns caring for her at night.

Deputy Prosecutor Courtney Curtis asked that Schwer spend nine years in prison and be placed on probation for an additional three years. Yet, Arpana asked that he be spared jail time so he could financially support their children in the wake of their divorce proceedings - the couple has two children together.

At the time of the molestation, the victim was 6 and she told her mother that her father had touched her “peepeluca,” the family’s word for private parts, and her father “had her sit on his ‘cat tail.’” The victim, now seven, said her dad asked her not to tell anyone or he would go to jail.

As a result, Scwher will be on probation for 12 years and must register as a sex offender. He has also been required to move out of his family’s home so Arpana and their children can move in. The home contains a princess castle, which the family obtained through the Make-A-Wish foundation.

The victim has a brain tumor that hasn't shown any growth. She is also recovering from treatment, including chemotherapy. After his arrest, Schwer was fired from his job. Although, he's recently found another job.

His lawyer, John W. Campbell, said his client was devoted to supporting his family. Curtis said, "This is the most horrific circumstance of a child molest case that I’ve ever seen."
