Dad Punches Baby To Death, Hides Body In Hearse

A father has pleaded guilty to punching his 2-month-old son to death before leaving his body in a car. The Maryland man then attempted to bury the child's body behind a school. The culprit’s name is believed to be Antoine Petty, 33, and it is alleged that he punched his baby, Antoine Flemons, because the mother of the baby boy, Geneice Petty, 24, could not calm the crying infant.

Mr. Petty was convicted of first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of an infant and faces up to 40 years of jail time.

In a heinous crime that has enraged the public, Mr. Petty has been convicted of punching his 2-month-old son to death, before hiding his body in a car and then proceeding to bury it in a wooded area behind a school. When his partner, Ms. Petty, could not console their crying baby, Mr. Petty lost control and punched the 2-month-old infant to death.

After killing him, the pair briefly hid the infant's body in a 1998 Lincoln Town car hearse, before deciding to bury the body behind a high school.

When relatives noticed that the child was missing, they became concerned and reported it to the police. Authorities immediately questioned the parents of the infant, before the couple finally confessed to the crime and led authorities to the body one month later.

Much to the relief of the public, Mr. Petty now faces up to 40 years behind bars. Ms. Gina Ford, a spokeswoman for the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney office has stated that Mr. Petty’s “actions were so incredibly heinous that he deserves every day of the prison sentence.” Ms. Ford went on to further condemn Mr. Petty, expressing her outrage by stating, “This was a defenseless 2-month-old child… rather than consoling his son, he takes his son and beats him.”

Mr. Petty’s partner, Geneice, also faces jail time, being held liable for involuntary manslaughter and accessory after the fact. Mr. Petty is said to have shown a great deal of remorse over his actions, with his public defender, Mr. Doug Irminger, confessing that “Antoine Petty is deeply remorseful for his actions in this case.” However, this remorse was not enough for many.

A CBS News reader has left a scathing comment towards Mr. Petty, stating that “the word ‘father’ or ‘mother’ should not be used to describe these creatures. It insults those of us who are father’s and mother’s.” One online commenter also emphasized their disgust, adding “only 2-months-old, what kind of creature could do such a thing to its own baby??”

A number of readers have even gone as far as demanding the death penalty and sterilization as a punishment for this crime. "Mandatory sterilization for all criminals convicted of murder would at least lower the birth rate somewhat among the criminal class," added one reader.

User ‘Kelly Girlie Singh’ was quick to point out that “the death penalty is too easy for him. Let them rot in prison for a very very very long time.”
