Protesters Confront Sen. Mitch McConnell Over Trump Immigration Policies

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was ambushed Saturday by a group of protesters at a restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky. The group, including many people who describe themselves as Democratic Socialists, shouted at McConnell to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, and demanded to know where 'the babies' are being held.

The demonstraters filmed as they approached McConnell and followed him to his car. The senator had been having lunch with outgoing majority leader of Kentucky’s House of Representatives, Jonathan Shell. The video shows the protesters taunting McConnell with the chant, "Vote you out!"

Members of the group began asking McConnell, “Where are the babies, Mitch?”

The question was in reference to the children taken from undocumented immigrants at the southern border who have not yet been reunited with their parents. The separation of families sparked a massive outcry against President Donald Trump and Border Patrol after the president instituted his 'zero-tolerance' party more than a month ago. To date, more than 3,000 children have been separated from their families and are being held in detention centers all around the country.

Last month, Trump reversed the policy and signed an executive order that would require Border Patrol agents to keep families together. However, reuniting those families already separated has been extremely slow-going.

Protesters then began to shout, "Abolish ICE!”

McConnell completely ignored the protesters as he walked away from the restaurant and did not address their concerns.

“We know where you live, Mitch,” yelled one man in the crowd, repeatedly.

Shell turned around to criticize the protesters for the threat, calling it something 'right out of the Maxine Waters playbook'.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) has urged resistance against Trump, his administration and high-ranking Republicans. Waters has practically been spitting nails since the 2016 election over Trump's win. She was calling for impeachment before Trump was even inaugurated, and she has even frightened members of her own party with some of her calls to action. She has called for a war against Trump and the GOP.

At least McConnell got to eat at the restaurant, even if he had to take his meal with a side of protests. Republicans have been finding themselves more and more unwelcome across the country. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders attempted to go out to dinner with family, but the owner of the restaurant approached the table and asked the party to leave because of Sanders’ involvement with the Trump administration.

"Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so," Sanders wrote in Twitter update after being questioned by the media about the incident.

It's not just politicians who are getting the heat. Average people who support the GOP or President Trump are also being tossed out of places. A used electronics store in Derry, New Hampshire threw out Republicans for being 'evil', and says the business won't serve any registered Republicans or Trump supporters.

In New York, a judge ruled it legal to throw Trump supporters out of a bar. A man filed a suit against a bar owner after he was asked to leave for wearing a Make America Great Again cap.
