President's Comments About First Lady's Surgery Make Health Condition Sound Serious

For nearly four weeks, people across the U.S. were speculating about First Lady Melania Trump. The FLOTUS seemed to go missing, making her last appearance early in May.

The White House then reported that Melania had surgery and was fine, but even after that she was still nowhere to be found. She's finally back, but things might have been worse for Melania than the White House initially let on.

Melania Trump has finally appeared in public again after a lengthy unexpected absence. She was at President Donald Trump's side at the Federal Emergency Management Agency Headquarters briefing in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. This appearance came 26 days since the FLOTUS dropped out of sight.

After Melania hadn't been seen for a while in May, the White House announced that she had minor kidney surgery and was recovering nicely. The report said that she was having a kidney embolization, a simple procedure done to block off a blood vessel.

Some speculated that the surgery was just a cover story and that there was something more sinister going on behind closed doors at the White House. The biggest conspiracy theory was that Melania was no longer there.

Rumors swirled saying that the FLOTUS had actually left her husband and went back to her penthouse in Trump Tower in Manhattan.

At least two women have come forward in recent months to allege that they had affairs with him before he entered politics. He would have been married to Melania at the time. Some believe that Melania simply had enough, and they were waiting to hear a divorce announcement.

Some of the crazier conspiracies theorized that Melania had died, and that the White House was covering up the fact.

Melania's spokeswoman said that the FLOTUS was working in her office with staff, tending to her new 'Be Best' campaign and upcoming events. This did nothing to stop the rumors, however.

Mrs. Trump took to Twitter to allay people's concerns. "I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing. Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!"

Still, speculation abounded, with many people even insisting that Trump himself probably wrote the tweet. People argued that the style of writing was not consistent with the First Lady's usual style.

Now that she's back, it seems the situation might have been that the health scare was more serious than the Trump's first announced. President Trump reported that Melania's operation was four hours, and that she's prohibited from flying.

"Can't fly for one month, the doctors say," said Mr. Trump when he was asked if Melania would be accompanying him on his trip to Canada. "She wanted to go. She had a big operation, that was close to a 4-hour operation. And she's doing great."

Mrs. Trump also had to sit out a meeting with Japan's first lady, Akie Abe, though her representatives said it had nothing to do with the surgery.

"Mrs. Trump had a previously scheduled event with her son and was regrettably not able to host Mrs. Abe," said Mrs. Trump's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, to the Daily Mail.
