Slovenian Winemakers Pop The Cork On Melania's New Wine

First Lady Melania Trump's homeland is celebrating the Slovenian beauty's new role in the U.S. by releasing a host of goodies in her honor. If traveling to Slovenia anytime soon, know that you can pick up some First Lady luxuries.

Ever since Mrs. Trump's husband won the 2016 presidential election, tourism to Slovenia has experienced a boost. Local businesses are both celebrating and cashing in on the fashion model-turned-FLOTUS's success.

Decanter Magazine reports that a new First Lady wine has hit the shelves of Sevnica Castle for $30. It's a red wine made from Blaufränkisch grapes by select local winemakers.

The sleek, black bottles feature fancy gold script. The first 300 bottles flew off the shelves, even though promotions hadn't even begun. It's one of the most expensive wines in the shop, but Sevnica Castle steward Rok Petančič says, "Some people suggested we should sell it for €500, but I think it’s a fair price."

Petančič says the wine is ‘gentle like Melania’.

A First Lady salami is also now on the Slovenian market, a product made with a rare breed of pig that is found locally.

Other products are beginning to hit the shelves under 'First Lady' labels as well: chocolates, cheeses and beauty products, just to name a few.

"I think this is one of the best ways we can promote our winemakers, our tourism, and Blaufränkisch as a variety, which is very important for us as we want to become a center for Blaufränkisch," said Petančič.

Reports came out last month that says the FLOTUS hired a Slovenian law firm to protect her name. She didn't want Slovenian businesses cashing in by putting her name all over their products, but the term 'First Lady' isn't a name, and thus it can't be legally protected.

Mrs. Trump doesn't appear to be complaining about the First Lady products lines, though she hasn’t endorsed any, either.
