‘Art of the Deal’ Co-Author Says Trump a 'Liar' and 'Sociopath'

Donald Trump is a liar and “sociopath” unfit for the presidency, according to the writer who helped the businessman pen his popular book “The Art of the Deal.”

“I genuinely believe that if Trump wins and gets the nuclear codes there is an excellent possibility it will lead to the end of civilization,” the author, Tony Schwartz, told The New Yorker. He claimed that lying is “second nature” to the Republican presidential candidate, who can “convince himself that whatever he is saying at any given moment is true, or sort of true, or at least ought to be true.”

MailOnline reported that Schwartz indicated he regrets having helped write the book. “I put lipstick on a pig,” he said. “I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is.”

Later, on ABC, the writer commented: “You know, it’s a terrifying thing, I haven’t slept a night through since Donald Trump announced for president because I believe he is so insecure, so easily provoked and not particularly, nearly as smart as people might imagine he is. And in the face of somebody like Putin provoking him cleverly, because Putin's a whole heck of a lot smarter than Donald Trump.”

According to MailOnline, Schwartz met Trump in 1985, when he interviewed the real-estate mogul for an article in New York Magazine headlined “A Different Kind of Donald Trump Story.” The piece slammed the billionaire for attempting to evict low-income residents from one of his buildings.
