Zookeepers Shocked After Seeing This During Tiger's Birth

Not everyone gets to witness the miracle of birth. And not everyone gets to see another species give birth. That’s changed with the evolution of cell phones. A zookeeper at the Australian Zoo recently shot a cell phone video of a female tiger performing this miracle.

Caitlyn the tiger was in labor on and off for five hours, when she began have strong contractions, according to Little Things. An entire crew of zookeepers watched as Caitlyn pushes down on her front paws to try and push her child out as she stands.

You can see the amniotic sack come out of the mother just before it pops. Her new baby and the rest of the sac followed shortly thereafter. Though the mother licking her child should have jumped started the baby’s breathing it did not. The tiger gasped three times as the zookeepers looked on nervously.

After about two minutes the cub starts breathing normally. The zookeepers cheer as the little tiger makes its first squeaking noise at its mother. She cuddled her first baby as the second one seemed to wriggle himself out. The zookeepers then got to enjoy the two new male cubs.
