Woman Finds Strange Bumps Covering Dog, Learns They're Bullet Holes

Hayden Howard is the proud owner of an adorable English Mastiff named Jackson, and she knew something wasn’t right with her furry friend. She was pretty confident that Jackson had a whole bunch of bug bites that were making him antsy, so she decided to get in for a closer look. As So Share This explains, she was stunned to find that there was a much bigger problem at hand.

While Jackson was definitely covered with marks, it wasn’t the familiar raised bumps of bug bites. The marks were holes, and it appeared as if Jackson had been shot.

“I was in shock, I didn’t even know what to think,” Howard recalls.

She rushed to the vet, and the vet got to work shaving Jackson’s back. He had been shot with a pellet gun repeatedly. The vet would remove 20 pellets and seven BBs, and it’s estimated that there are at least another 20 lodged in his body. What’s more, the vet estimated that 20 more struck the dog and bounced off. The police were called in.

“I have never seen an animal shot that many times. It’s a very bad case and it’s sad to see,” said Seymour Police Department Assistant Chief Craig Hayes.

Hayes and company would begin by checking out the homes of Howard’s neighbors, all while wondering who could possibly do something so cruel to Jackson. They would soon find their answer, and his name is Tim Woodward. Police would discover a BB gun and pellets at the man’s home, as well as drug paraphernalia.

He’s been arrested on drug charges so far, and the police are waiting for some tests to confirm that the gun and pellets match up with Jackson’s injuries. Animal cruelty charges will be filed against him from that point, and police have noted that they believe he was under the influence of drugs while using Jackson for target practice.
