Woman Confronts Dog Owner After He Left His Dog At Park

A dog park is a great way for pooches to get together and socialize. Dogs are originally pack animals and they need social experiences with their own kind. It can help your dog learn to cope better when he meets new animals and humans, making him less frightened and aggressive.

It is a great way to let them have a little fun and get exercise, too. Unfortunately, some pet owners aren't very responsible when they use dog parks, like this guy who lives in Chicago.

For a city dog, getting out of the house to run and play off the leash is a great way to spend an afternoon. One woman named Deborah brought her dog to the park for a little rest and relaxation, but it turned out to be a very stressful day.

While Deborah was there, a man walked in with his dog. He then left his dog there and walked away. Deborah was stunned because dog parks are not supervised daycare.

The poor dog who was left behind looked visibly distressed to pet owners who were visiting the park that day. He seemed to be nervous and shaking when he watched his person walk away without him. He also wasn't wearing a collar or any tags. People at the dog park began to suspect that the pup had just been abandoned.

“Another owner said that she has seen him do this before. Leaving the dog alone like this was irresponsible and dangerous for it. It was obviously stressed that the owner did this as it was constantly at the gate looking for him; one time getting out into the entrance fenced in area,” Deborah later wrote of the incident on Facebook.

Deborah called a local animal rescue and volunteered to wait around for someone to come get the dog. Someone did come: the unscrupulous owner. He came back to pick up the pup about 30 or 40 minutes after leaving him behind.

Deborah was furious and she confronted the pet owner with her camera.

“The dog park is not daycare,” she yelled at him, trying to get a good image of him and his license plate. The angry man started shouting expletives at her and blocked his plate.

The man then put his dog in the car by lifting it up by the leash. He spit at Deborah for good measure and sped away. It could have gotten ugly for Deborah as the dog owner seemed to be very hostile and imposing, even threatening.

But thankfully, no dogs or people got hurt that day, with the exception of the emotional trauma caused to the man’s pooch.

Police are looking for the man now because spitting constitutes a battery charge, but they unfortunately can't do anything about the way the man treated his dog. Hopefully, there is some legal way that the little pup can be taken out of his bully of an owner’s hands.
