Woman In Big Trouble After Posting This To Facebook (Photos)

A South Daytona woman thought she would impress her Facebook friends with her draconian method of punishment for her pup. Now that woman may face charges.

An animal abuse investigation is underway after a photo of a dog with his mouth taped shut went viral on social media.

South Daytona Animal Control is investigating the case after the picture, which shows a dog being punished with the caption “This is what happens when you don't shut up!!!” was shared by more than 25,000 people, WFTV.com reports. The photo was posted to an account operated by Katie Brown of South Daytona and received tons of comments decrying the act. A follow-up post read:

“Dont panic everyone it was only for a minute but hasnt barked since... POINT MADE!!!”

According to WFTV.com, Channel 9 received dozens of calls about the photo and reached out to the Volusia County Animal Services.

Their Facebook page says that the South Daytona Animal Control is investigating. The City of South Daytona’s Facebook page also said that the police department is aware of the incident and that an animal abuse investigation is being conducted.
