Veteran Brings Fight Back To Home Turf By Battling Child Pornography
After having children, parents are often confronted with the stark, dangerous reality of the outside world. Former U.S Army Green Beret turned computer forensic analyst Mike Rock has revealed the true extent of illegal child pornography rings across America.
Mr. Rock served in the U.S. Army for ten years before he was forced to retire for medical reasons. While his transition from soldier to civilian was difficult, it was made much easier when he pursued a position at H.E.R.O. Child Rescue Corps, a non-profit, anti-child crime organization that uses military veterans to assist in tracking criminals. This team has partnered with many U.S. government forces, making it one of the largest anti-child crime operations in the world.
Mr. Rock has the difficult job of analyzing the ‘crime scene,' in other words, he must look through smartphones, tablets, and computers to confirm any evidence of possession of child pornography. Mr. Rock revealed the severity of this issue, stating that “when [he] was in training, they pulled up a live map of the U.S where a little red dot popped up every time someone downloaded child porn in the United States. In just fifteen minutes, the entire map was red.”
In an attempt to educate parents and the public in general, Mr. Rock has revealed just how unashamed and disgusting these people are: “It isn’t just downloading child porn, though. People will go to these chatrooms on the internet, and they will offer their kids to each other. Like they will say, ‘I have a two-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter,’ and they will offer them.”
This sickening revelation has left many parents panicked and desperate to ensure that their kids will not fall victim to this sickening crime. Mr. Rock has confessed that child pornography “is a highly widespread problem… you could live in a neighborhood filled with millionaires and you don’t know that there are three people just on your street that are hugely into child pornography.”
According to Mr. Rock, one of the best ways to keep your children safe, is to monitor your children’s use of technology and social media. With technology advancing, it is easier and easier for pedophiles and sex offenders to reach out to children. Rock says: “Educate yourselves more and your children on what to watch out for, they could be talking to someone online who claims to be a 15 or 16-year-old, but in reality that’s a 45-year-old child pornography user who wants to make your child a victim.”
