Shocking Video Captures Georgia Police Ordering Man To Cut Off Family Dog's Head

Every once in awhile, a situation comes to light that’s so unbelievably shocking that you are left with no choice but to question what the heck is wrong with the world. This is one of those situations. The shocking incident took place in Crawford County, Georgia, and it was captured on video to boot. Police were called to the property of Joe Nathan Goodwin for reasons that remain unclear, and all hell broke loose from that point.

As Inquisitr shares, the man’s dog would charge at the officers as they arrived, and they promptly shot and killed the animal. Goodwin’s children were home at the time, and they had to witness the horrifying sight of their beloved family pet being killed. It gets worse - as in unfathomably worse. A confrontation between the officers and Goodwin took place from that point, and the officers would demand that he remove his own dog’s head.

No, that is not a misprint. The officers wanted the man to cut off his dog’s head after they had shot and killed it. The whole scene was captured on video, and the disturbing back and forth can be heard quite clearly.

“I tell you what,” one officer said. “I will take you to jail and charge you.”

“Charge me with what?” Goodwin asked.

“When I get there, I’ll give you the charges,” the cop, identified as Officer Hollis, replied.

“What law did I break?” asked Goodwin.

“We asking you to cut… remove the dog’s head,” the cop added.

Goodwin notes that he initially refused the bizarre request, but the officers would then grab him and slam him into the hood of his vehicle. He succumbed to the officer's requests from that point, and the whole disturbing scene of him cutting off his own dog’s head was also captured on video. Goodwin would later share video of the whole incident on social media, and shock and outrage would quickly flow in.

So how on earth did this situation escalate into such an outrageous turn of events? After the dog was shot and killed, Officer Hollis became irate and demanded to see shot records. Goodwin noted that he didn’t have them handy, but he told the officers that he believed the dog was current on everything. As for why they had the man cut off the dogs head, it appears that the officers were taking some liberties that they had no business taking.

Health departments will typically remove the head of a suspected rabid animal after they are deceased, as the only way to completely determine that fact is if the animal's brain is examined. This falls under the jurisdiction of the health department alone, and the procedure needs to be done by a trained professional - not by the animal's owner.

Users on social media have called for charges to be filed against the officers, but it’s unclear if that’s going to come to pass or not. Regardless, this is one of the more bizarre and disturbing incidents that we have come across in recent years, and we can only hope that local officials have been inspired to look into it.
