Poor Raccoon Locked In A Dirty Cage For Four Years - Finally Free To Live The Best Life!

One of the things a hoarder in California had been hoarding for the last four years was a raccoon. Rescuers came in to find the poor little critter had spent the last four years in a 2x2x2 dog crate. Since being rescued, he seems to be finally enjoying life.

Harbor the raccoon was covered in filth and his own feces and surrounded by dirt when rescued by Animal Advocates. If his cage had ever been cleaned out, it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time.

Harbor was malnourished, having survived only on the occasional meal of cat food and having been given no water. Several of his teeth were broken from chewing on his metal cage bars. Being cooped up in the cage for so long caused his heels and feet to become deformed. Harbor could barely walk, his skin was covered in rashes and he was blind.

Rescuers took the raccoon and gave him a much-needed bath. Harbor was not at all aggressive to any humans and seemed grateful for a loving hand.

Rescuers made the decision that Harbor did not have the physical health, survival skills or social skills to be released into the wild. Instead, he's been set up with a much larger and nicer enclosure.

A video showing Harbor splashing around in his personal 'wading pool' and playing with a branch in his new home are inspiring. It's clear the little guy is just full of joy, with a new lease on life.
