Neighbors Hear Strange Noises Coming From Barn - Owner Immediately Arrested

A particularly unpleasant case of animal abuse was reported in Pinal County, Arizona recently. A local man was arrested for suspending his young dog by its hind legs, and charges are pending. The dog was surrendered to the care of Pinal County Animal Control.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu explains what his deputies found when they showed up at the property of Martin Benavidez after a complaint from a neighbor about animal abuse. He noted that they found a dog in a covered horse pen cowering under a table and unable to walk.

When the owner was asked what was going on, he claimed that he was training the dog, and that the dog was fine. However, that was an obvious lie as the dog could not walk and was clearly in pain.

A Pinal County Animal Control officer then came to the scene to document the dog’s injuries and take possession of the injured animal. The dog was determined to be a Queensland heeler that was around six months old.

Pinal County Animal Control Director Audra Mitchell highlighted that the friendly animal had been named Spur and that the agency would make certain that the dog was placed in a loving home.
