Man Devastated After Cat Passes Away, Then Gets Strange Letter From Someone Else Who Loved Them

It's amazing the way humans can forge a bond with animals. For many pet owners, their sweet fur babies become part of the family. When a pet dies, it's absolutely heartbreaking. One pet owner lost his dear cat in an accident, but he soon found out that he wasn't the only one missing the feline.

Scott Ewels had two cats: Bear and Teddy. The two brothers were very adventurous and loved to spend time outdoors. Ewels wasn't exactly sure where Teddy and Bear went while they were out galivanting, but they seemed to be having fun.

One day, tragedy hit. Bear was hit by a car down the street and killed. It was a terrible blow to both Ewels and Teddy, but life went on.

Ewels saw Teddy come home alone one day from his travels and found a note attached to his kitty's collar. He took the note and opened it, and was surprised by what he read.

"Dear Owner: I'm your neighbor, living in 4," the note writer explained. "I'm also your cats' close friends as they (2 cats) are used to coming to my room everyday. But one of them, a bigger one has disappeared for two weeks. Is he OK? I'm so worried about him. He is so lovely cat and always touched my heart. Wish he is fine."

Ewels was touched to know that someone cared about Bear. He wrote his neighbor a response, breaking the bad news about Bear's death. "I mentioned that Bear had passed away, and was so glad that he had brought joy to their lives too. I included my email address, and she has since emailed us with pictures of Bear (and Teddy) in her house, and stories of their adventures with her," said Ewels in an interview with the website The Dodo.

The neighbor was saddened by the news, but a friendship blossomed between the two humans, all because of their shared affection for Bear. The two have plans for a visit to Bear's grave.

"He really made an impression with our neighbor," said Ewels. "She rehearsed her university thesis to him and she had no one else to talk to. It makes his death even more poignant."
