Kind Woman Stunned To Realize The Dog She Rescued Isn’t A Dog At All

For animal lovers, it’s simply impossible to come across the sight of a furry little friend in trouble and not have their heart completely melt. Oftentimes, they will immediately leap into action to do whatever they can to help.

Sometimes, that can be as simple as calling in animal rescue to alert them to a situation that needs tending to. Many times, those that make the call will stay behind with the animal until they arrive on the scene, as there’s simply no way they’ll be able to rest easy until they know the problem is taken care of.

In some cases, these animal lovers will even go further than that. There’s plenty of stray animals out there, and some folks just can’t help themselves when one just so happens to come calling in their neck of the woods.

In those cases, they’ll either tend to the animal and get it some nourishment before handing it off to a local shelter that can help it find a permanent home, but there are times when the animal will be taken in on a permanent basis.

Either way, those that go above and beyond the call of duty deserve a sincere tip of the cap. While others will quickly turn away and pretend that there’s nothing to see here in the face of a sad situation, these do-gooders pick up the slack for everyone else and give the furry ones a better shot at things.

A remarkable story has come to light from the state of California that helps to drive that point home.

As AWM shares, a woman named Sharon had an incredibly malnourished and dying dog appear on her doorstep. Without giving it a second thought, she brought the animal inside, fed it, and did her best to nurse it back to health.

It wasn’t too long after that when she found the animal huddled up behind a ceramic urn in her yard, and she knew that the pup needed a whole lot more help than she was able to give it.

That led her to enlist the services of a local animal rescue group. Sharon gave them a call, and she was even able to gather the animal into a portable cage to make things easier for them.

Folsom animal services would arrive soon thereafter, and they were equally stunned by the condition of the animal. There was also something else that thoroughly surprised them, and they quickly shared that news with Sharon.

The animal that she helped rescue wasn’t a dog, but rather a coyote. Sharon was floored. The animal was in such rough shape that she simply had no idea that it wasn’t a dog.

She was even honest about the fact that she may have hesitated to help if she realized what it was from the get-go, but she’s glad that she used her better judgment anyway. The local group wasn’t able to provide the care that the coyote needed, but they were able to get a hold of a wildlife rescue organization.

That group was able to take the coyote in and nurse her back to health. The coyote is said to be doing much better now, and she has even made plenty of friends with other female coyotes at the shelter.
