He Has A Brain Injury But Refuses To Accept Government Benefits - Finally Receives An Employment Opportunity

A man in Canada needed a job, but no matter how many interviews he went on, no one wanted to hire him. The man's big problem is that he has suffered from a brain injury that requires him to have a service dog at all times. When all other potential employers turned him down, one store felt the man had as much of a right to work as anyone else.

Lowes store manager Paolo Gallo recently hired Owen Lima and his service dog, Blue, to be the new store-front customer service associates. Lima is thrilled because he'd been turned down at a number of job interviews due to Blue.

Lima went for the interview for the new Saskatchewan store, expecting to be turned down yet again. Due to his brain injury, he sometimes has a difficult time understanding people when they speak too quickly so he needs Blue to help calm him down and prevent anxiety attacks. Most employers didn't want to deal with Blue.

"It's so hard to find a job where people can accept me for the way I am and the fact that I have a service dog with me," Lima said.

Gallo didn't have a problem with it. "We listened to an individual and we took him on board like we would anyone else."

Lowes even fitted Blue with his own personal customer service smock. The only problem Gallo anticipates is Blue getting spoiled by all the love he's going to get from other employees and customers.

The store has gotten a great deal of attention from the public when word got out. Gallo said he never expected it and that they're overwhelmed by it.
