Dog Saves Woman From Home Intruders

A woman from Arnold, Missouri believes that her rescue dog saved her life after the animal helped put an end to a terrifying home invasion. The victim, who has asked media to redact her name, thinks that, if her dog hadn’t been home, she would certainly have been killed.

The terrifying home invasion began when the victim heard a knock on her door. Thinking that it might be a neighbor or charity worker, the victim walked to the front of her house and asked who was there.

The victim received a muffled reply from a man outside her locked door. According to AOL, the stranger asked the woman if he could use her phone as he had run out of gas in her street and had no phone battery.

Unable to properly hear what the man was asking, the female victim opened her front door, not realizing the danger she was exposing herself to. "You don't think somebody is going to do this to you," she told KTVI.

With her door slightly ajar, the victim heard what the man said and knew that something wasn’t right. At this point, things became terrifying for the unnamed victim. "I was polite and I told him I said, ‘No sir, I am sorry,’ and he reached his hand in and around and punched me in my face," she recalled.

In an interview with local media, the victim later professed that she wished she had kept her door locked. In hindsight, the unnamed woman realizes that she made a mistake answering the door, telling KTVI: “I thought someone might have needed help, it’s so sad that I am now regretting acting like a human being.”

The victim believes that the culprit only attacked her because he thought that there was no one else in the house. "I think he realized that nobody was coming up behind me asking, you know, who is here and that is when he attacked me," she said angrily.

However, as soon as the attacker barged into her home, the victim’s rescue dog barreled out from her living room, barking in anger and jumping up at the intruder. Unsurprisingly, the cowardly home invader was spooked and ran away from the scene.

"I thank God she was here, because I don't know what would have happened," she told reporters. "She saved my life. She is the hero; she deserves everything."

After assessing the victim impact statement, investigators from the Arnold Police Department have a prime suspect, describing him as between 45 and 50 years old. The suspect was Caucasian, approximately 6’ to 6’5 tall, and weighed between 150 to 200 pounds.

The attacker is also described as having shaggy grey hair and missing several of his front teeth. At the time of the attack, the victim believes that he was wearing a black and white baseball cap and a denim jacket.

Anyone with knowledge of the attacker or home invasion should immediately reach out to the Arnold Police Department.
