Baggage Handlers Seen With Soldier Dog's Casket - People Shocked By What They're Doing (Video)

Delta Airlines has an unknown decade-long tradition for paying homage to fallen soldiers. A video captures the tribute by bag handlers who pay their respects to a soldier and his dog when they return home.

According to MailOnline, the video shows members of the Delta Honor Guard service holding up flags as the unidentified soldier’s flag-draped casket comes off the conveyor belt. Other Delta employees look on and salute the casket during a ceremony held on the tarmac at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Each of the flags represent a branch of service, with an American flag in the middle of the group.

The flags are held at a 45 degree angle while the casket is lowered and a prayer is read. A second smaller casket with the military bomb-sniffing dog, followed the first one. MailOnline reports that the pair were killed by an improvised explosive device.

The caskets are then moved to a special flag-painted cart. The ceremony concludes after two military personnel and two Delta pilots shake the hands of the flag holders. Daily Mail reports that the tribute is held by volunteers and active military personnel.

The Delta Honor Guard paid tribute to more than 3,000 soldiers at the Atlanta airport.
