Authorities Horrified When They Realize What Pets Have Done To Their Owner

An Arkansas woman will be with her pets forever, so to speak. According to Arkansas Matters, a woman who owned almost 50 dogs was eaten by them after she died in her home.

Dogs still roam outside the woman’s home, 46 were taken after she was found dead and partially eaten. The 65-year-old woman had reportedly been in trouble with authorities for hoarding dogs in the past.

"When the deputies arrived on the scene to get in to her, the dogs were vicious,” Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley told Arkansas Matters. “You couldn't even get into the trailer to check on her to see what needed to be done,"

Animal control officers reportedly had to shoot and kill nine dogs just to get to the woman who died from Hepatitis C.

"We didn't know if those diseases, or that disease, would be spread by the dogs in the community," Bradley explained. "That's when the real threat began. When they started to roam into the neighbor's yards."

Authorities tried to save or euthanize the dogs, but one bit the vet so they shot 27 of them.

"It was the only resource we had. We had tried everything else, and it just failed," Animal Control Officer Reta Tharp. "I did what I felt like had to be done," Tharp said.

The Arkansas State Health Department veterinarian said that it wouldn’t have been possible for the animals to spread Hepatitis C.
