Abused Rescue Dog Acting Strange, Leads New Owner To Horrific Scene

A woman wrote to the animal shelter where she and her husband had adopted their little dog. The dog had suffered severe abuse from his previous owner; she had several broken ribs, two broken legs, and her stomach was filled with life-threatening carpet fibers. Thankfully, the little pup was saved, because she ended up saving the life of a little girl.

The woman and her husband had owned 'Peanut' for about a year. Peanut, in general, was a loving, sweet member of the family. She was usually a pretty quiet, calm dog, but one day she started acting funny.

Peanut, who never went upstairs, started running up and down. The dog who was usually so quiet started barking and making a fuss. She found the husband in the garage and she started going crazy, indicating she was anxious to go out.

The husband let the dog out, and Peanut took off like a dog on a mission. The husband followed, and Peanut led him right to a ditch. A three-year-old little girl was lying in the ditch, naked.

It was 30 degrees out, and the little girl would have surely died if Peanut didn't find her. The husband scooped the toddler up and tried wrapping her up in his sweatshirt to keep the little girl warm while he called police. The little girl was distracted from the horror of the situation by Peanut, and kept calling the 'doggie'.

Authorities came to get the girl, and investigators found she was living in a bad home situation. She was removed and treated, and is going to be fine, thanks to Peanut. No one knew the little girl was out there, but the dog seemed to sense there was danger nearby.

Peanut's owner suspects that her own abusive background helped the small pup develop a 'sixth sense' for danger.

"Words cannot express how grateful we are that we have Peanut in our lives and how amazing she is. She is a part of our family now and thanks to wonderful people like you at the shelter she is alive," the owner concluded in her letter. "Without her, not only would she have been gone from this world, but the life of this little girl might have been taken as well."
